Key Roles

"Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure Science."  Edwin Hubble

I am proud to be part of the high school team at Spruce View. Our goal is to create an academic atmosphere where students take ownership of their education and become life-long learners. I teach Biology 20-30, Chemistry 30, Physics 30, Big History 15, Science 9-10 and Palaeontology. I have a BSc in Biology, a BEd in Secondary Science, and have been teaching for 18 years.

My wife Tina and I live in Red Deer and have a 11 year old daughter (Havana) and a 7 year old son (Jack); both of whom attend Spruce View School. My interests include being a major science nerd (#ScienceRocks), back-country camping, waterskiing and scuba-diving. I am also an advid fossil-hunter and a member of the Alberta Palaeontological Society.

My goal is that students develop a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world around them and develop the critical-thinking and problem-solving skills that scientists use and apply these skills to everyday life.

"You are capable of more than you know. Choose a goal that seems right for you and strive to be the best, however hard the path. Aim high. Behave honorably. Prepare to be alone at times, and to endure failure. Persist. The world needs all you can give."  -E.O.Wilson
